Kotare - Sacred Kingfisher

We visited the Hamilton Zoo today and got some great bird photos. This is a Kotare or Sacred Kingfisher and I feel that makes it a national treasure.

I used an Olympus digital 40-150mm kit lens at its widest aperture which at 150mm is f/4.5. This has blurred the background, I also like the out of focus effect on the foreground leaves top left.

  1. That's a great shot, I really like what can be achieved with DOF. I also like your composition.
